Family is a Special Gift by Gill Humphrey
11:00Sometimes a premade card base will just not do and so it is really useful to have a range of alternatives that are easy to make - what appears to be a small square card is anything but as it opens out to reveal lots of little spaces for tucking images, quotes and flaps to right in. This design can also be used as a mini album for small photographs making it super versatile.
For my make this week I have chosen to use Plum in Chocolate range by Craft O'Clock. I started by cutting 3 8" squares of black cardstock and scored them in half along the straight edges thereby dividing each piece into 4 smaller squares. I then added an additional score line from one corner to the other. The diagonal line was folded in a mountain style and the two others in a valley style before the pieces were joined together by adhering one whole square on one to the adjacent one on the second piece and repeated to add the third piece. Careful folding then allows the points at the top and bottom to fold in on each other and the remaining panels to sit on top of each other.
Having created the base I then chose papers from the 8 x 8 Plum in Chocolate paper pack and cut 33/4" squares of paper to fit the square areas of the base and bisected other 33/4" squares to give me panels to fit in the triangular areas adhering them in place with Multi Surface Glue.
I added some small gold doillies from my stash and then adhered clock and dragonfly elements from Vintage Bisou sheet of extras along with thick chipboard die cuts and elements from the junk journal extras that co-ordinate with the Plum in Chocolate collection of papers.
For the cover square I added the base piece of paper and the adhered a piece of co-ordinating ribbon across the middle covering with a doily, a chipboard element and my sentiment. The ribbon then goes around the back and then crosses in the middle to come back round to the front so it can be tied with a shabby bow.
I do hope that you like this mini-book tutorial and would love to see what you do with it.
