Find Strength in the Storms of Life by Amanda Pink

 Hi Everyone ,

In contrast to last weeks 'full on' colour project (shared here) this weeks project is far more sombre. It's a mixed media 'affirmations' card using one of Lynne Moncrieffs Thats Crafty! affirmations stamp sets along with some PaperArtsy infusions and a few other extras.

The background for  the card was cut from a larger background that I created on mixed media paper using a few of PaperArtsy's Infusions ( Sleight Blue, Black Knight, In the Navy).

I sprinkled the Infusions (only a little is needed) onto a craft/glass mat, spritz them with water to react the mix of colour pigment powders and Walnut Crystals and then smooshed the paper through, repeating the process (drying in between) gradually building up colour and tone.

They really are an interesting medium to create with and as long as there's water involved they can be used in a number of different ways to the way I have used them for this project.

I have some posts on my own blog here,  here and here where I've used them as above and also  watercoloured and stamped with them but please know I am by no means an 'Infusions' expert so you may wish to explore elsewhere too.

Once the Infusions were thoroughly dry I added background detail.
Some ink stamping with one of the stamps from PaperArtsy HotPicks 2101 stamp set and some textured stenciling using AALL & Create Lotsa Starz stencil with Tim Holtz Distress Texture Paste.
I caught the textured stars with gold, silver and white paint.

For the focal image I used the tree from Lynne 's That's Crafty! Affirmations Set 7. I love the design of this tree and all its fine detail. Whether it's stamped or embossed the detail is never lost.

I chose to emboss it with superfine white embossing powder for this project as I wanted it to stand out against the darker more sombre tones of the background.

I followed the white embossing through to the 'affirmation' which again is from the same stamp set as the tree.
