Antique Baubles Card by Fliss Goodwin

Hi there, I have another Christmas card to share this week which features some of the new MDF baubles that I wanted to make look like antique tree decorations and indeed if you took these off the card and added some gold or silver thread, you could hang them on the tree.

Ingredients:

That’s Crafty! Shimmer Paints – Pink, Dark Blue, Purple, Charcoal
That’s Crafty! Metallic Paints – Antique Gold, Antique Silver
Palette Knife – I use the Ranger Black Palette Knife Set
Charcoal Metallic Card
White Square Card Blank

Recipe:

First prepare your chosen baubles by spreading on a fairly thick layer of modelling paste and then create a pattern on each one by drawing into the wet paste with a skewer or a cocktail stick. I created diagonal stripes on one with dot detail and wavy diagonal stripes on the other one, also adding a dot pattern. I added a line across the top of each one where the looped cap would fit on an actual bauble.

Once the paste is dry, paint the stripes with the Antique Gold and Silver Metallic Paints and add Charcoal around the rims and the top loop for contrast. Set these aside to dry whilst you make the background papers.

I cut a piece of mixed media paper to fit my card blank then used the Poinsettia Tree stencil to add a pattern with the Dark Blue Shimmer paint. I added some Pink around the edges with my fingers. I die cut a further circle of the mixed media paper and used the stencil with Pink and Purple Shimmer paints for a lovely contrasting panel.

I stamped the Christmas text from the stamp set on a scrap of mixed media paper with embossing ink and heat embossed it with the gold powder. I then trimmed around the text and cut the words out separately. I glued my background paper onto a piece of charcoal metallic card (top tip – you could just go around the edges with some Charcoal Sshimmer paint to create the contrast layer too) as I have a load of this in my stash that needs using up!

Glue the background panel to the card blank and add the circular panel in the centre. Add the baubles and draw on the hanging threads with the gold pen. Finish off with the Christmas text.

Have a great weekend and see you next week.
