My Delicate Wings by Lynne Moncrieff

I like
to utilize this and that, even so far as using re-cycled cardboard box
packaging as a craft mat, for when I get messy with paints, rusting, Infusions,
you name it! It’s such a waste to
finally toss it into the rubbish bin, this ready formed substrate with dried
layers of medium. I keep them aside to
then form into projects such as this one. Green crafting is addictive!
Supplies
Fresco
Finish Midnight (Seth Apter Limited Edition Set 1)
Paintbrush
(or fingers!)
Extras:
Re-cycled
cardboard box packaging (used as craft mat)
Tree
branch off cut
Rusty
tin wire
Crochet
Lace, etc previously stained with Infusions*
Instructions
Tear
panels from the messy substrate. Begin
to layer various stained and rusted, torn crochet lace, papers etc. Attach the R&A Papillion, with rusty tin
wire, to branch off-cut. Apply adhesive
to the branch before adhering to the substrate.
Apply
Titanium White and hints of Infusions to the Papillion. Once dry, directly stamp Affirmation onto the
butterfly, only partially. Paint scrap of crochet lace with Midnight Fresco,
adhere to centre of butterfly. Onto scrap of stained paper, stamp the Affirmation
once again. Apply adhesive only to one
end of the stamped Affirmation, adhering to butterfly. Edge butterfly with Sharpie pen and Midnight
Fresco.
Apply
paints to MDF tag, grunge it up as much as possible before layering fragments
of rusted crochet lace. Onto found
paper, partially stamp Affirmation, cut/tear into word tiles before adhering to
tag. Scribble with white and black paint
pens. Attach to another piece of rusted tin wire, wrapping the wire and placing
ends of wire beneath the butterfly.
Highlight
areas with the beautiful That’s Crafty! Copper acrylic paint, this paint
beautifully captures textures. Take time to decide if areas needing touches of
lightness or darkness. Fresco Midnight
is a beautiful paint colour for adding areas of darkness.
Until
next time,
Wishes
Lynne

You are a fabulous artist dear friend,- this is so gorgeous. The rusty ,shabby, autumn, is where you take me,- the butterfly, with the delicate wings, which will ,very soon, not fly ,but be put to rest in a corner of your amazing autumn world, and say goodbye . That is the story it tells me !! Nature so very wonderful both in spring as well as autumn, in both beauty and in decay , - you so masterly create this Lynne. xxx
ReplyDeleteA beautiful interpretation, the use of wire always goes so well with things of nature. The size of this piece is so desirable, another master piece Lynne.
