Rise Above by Donna Gray

Hi
everyone,
Donna
here today with a tag featuring a really lovely stamp by Carmen’s Veranda.
What to do:
To
achieve the crackle effect you’ll need to cover a sheet of Strathmore Mixed Media Paper with a layer of DecoArt Crackle paint, set this aside to crack
naturally.
When
it’s dry, sprinkle a little bit of an Infusions powder on it and spritz with
water, keep spritzing and blotting until you are happy with the effect.
Stamp
the image using black Archival ink, if you have a stamping platform use that
just in case you need to re stamp it if you don’t achieve a first
clear
impression.
Fussy
cut the image out and place to one side. Don’t waste the rest of the paper you
have left as the circles and the little ‘mosaic’ pieces were also used from it
to add to the tag as finishing touches.
The
tag was actually dyed with tea (after a mammoth calico tea dying session I had
some tea left) but a brown Distress Oxide/Ink will work just as well, you want
to create an ‘aged’ look to the background.
I
took 2 different Dinky stencils to add some details to the background, pouncing
Distress Inks through them to give a muted effect.
Add
some stamping with the leaf from one of my Quirky Girls’ sets and colour in
with a green pencil; once again you want to keep it subtle.
Adhere
everything to the tag and then for a finishing touch add a Tim Holtz flower and
sentiment.
I
think the inspiration for my tag was my recent holiday to France where they
have the most fantastic museum of Roman finds so as soon as I saw this stamp I
knew I needed it J
Supplies Used:
Tim
Holtz Flowers
Hope
you like it

Wow - I wasn't expecting that from the sneak peek! What a dramatic crackled angel taking centre stage over that fab honeycomb background.

On first view, I thought the angel had been burned into wood, there is such a gorgeous natural effect to what you achieved, stunning and a beautiful gentleness exudes from this - love it!
