Great Things Take Time by Amanda Pink

11:00

 Hi Everyone and Welcome.

I have created a small square mixed media art panel to share with you today.
It has layers of colour and detail, some texture and and a focal timepiece on which rests a butterfly - who doesn't love a butterfly!

The background

For this I worked on a square panel of mixed media paper cut to size.
My medium of choice was a couple of Tim Holtz Distress ink reinkers: Picked Raspberry, Prize Ribbon.

I painted some pieces of canvas with both colours of reinkers, sprayed the inks with water, pressed the inky side of the canvas down onto my square of  mixed media paper and dried with a heat tool. This process was repeated numerous times to gradually build up layers of colour, inky drips and splotches.

I then added some Archival ink stamping detail using stamps from a couple of AALL & Create stamp sets: 'X or O' (crosses), 'Background Noise' (text)....

... and some textured stenciling using Tim Holtz Distress Texture Paste with AALL & Creates "Lotza Squares' stencil.
Additonal extras were some white pen circles that I drew with the aid of That's Crafty! round Dinky stencil 'Bubble Circle', a few white pen marks and of course some of my much loved paint splatters!! (white).

The background panel was adhered to a That's Crafty! white/greyboard panel cut down to size.

The focal feature.

This was the sum of a few parts.
A That's Crafty! greyboard clock painted white.
This framed a couple of greyboard circles adhered together painted white and crackled with Seth Apters Aladine Izink Crackled Textures.
I applied the medium lightly so the crackles were only small. For larger crackles a thicker application would be necessary.
The crackle circles served as an ideal resting spot for my stamped and embossed butterfly which is from Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous 'Moth Study' stamp set.  With 15 moths and buttterflies on the stamp set I was spoilt for choice selecting just one!

Some wire antennae for the butterfly and a couple of hardware heads to embellish the cracked circle completed the focal feature.

All that remained was the addition of a few words/quote courtesy of a Tim Holtz Small Talk sticker.
