Flight of the Heart. by Amanda Pink

Hi Everyone and Welcome

I've some mixed media creativity to share with you today that had me reaching for more than a few of  the usual mixed media suspects: texture mediums, ink sprays, inks, paint, embossing powder and of course stamps and stencils.

Here's the result...

I worked on mixed media paper for the background which was matt n layered on Tim Holtz metallic kraft stock and black cardstock before being adhered to a That's Crafty! 4 x 9 inch white/greyboard panel cut to size.

To create the background I applied Tim Holtz Distress Crackle paste through AALL & Creates 'Digits Geared' stencil designed by Bipasha BK. When the paste had dried and the cracks had formed I sprayed the entire background with some of Seth Apters Izink dye sprays (Sunflower, Honey, Tea, Coffee).

To enhance the depth and tones of colour a little more I blended in some of Tim Holtz Distress inks (Crackling Campfire, Mustard Seed, Rusty Hinge). I also caught the top of the paper lightly with some rust paste in the more open areas around the stenciling.

Although I added a touch of detail stamping using one of the stamps from AALL and Creates stamp set 'Background Voices' it's true clarity did tend to get a little lost within the cracks.

The focal feature was created by stamping and embossing one of Sara Naumann PaperArtsy stamps   (ESN23).
After cutting out the 'winged heart' the wings were manipulated to give a sense of movement and the heart itself was touched very lightly with colour and embellished with a Finnabair metallic heart. It was mounted onto a That's Crafty! Craftyboard circle that had a couple of Craftyboard lightbulb filaments tucked behind the top and bottom of the heart.

Some That's Crafty! greyboard brackets (spare from another project) were used to accent a couple of the panel corners...

and some Tim Holtz Chit chat stickers provided the title.

'Flight of the ...

Heart'.
