Memories by Gill Humphrey

In a world were we never know what is round the corner creating memories and sharing our love for one another is such an important element of our very being. My piece this week celebrates this sentiment.

To create my piece I chose a piece of paper from the Summer Rhapsody 12 x 12 paper collection by 13 Arts and cut it to fit the square That's Crafty Upright. I adhered this in place on the back panel and added a strip of the same paper to the base carefully cutting out the word memories from the same paper piece to use as my title.

The reverse side of the same paper piece was then cut 1 cm smaller than the base before distressing the edges using a Tim Holtz Distress Tool. Detail was added to the paper by stamping the text stamp from AALL and Create Just Grow Stamp Set using Morning Mist Versafine ink and heat setting with Wow Clear Embossing Powder. A piece of lace was wrapped around the paper which was then adhered in place using foam tape.

A panel was cut from the 12 x 12 paper pad and a smaller one from the 6 x 6 pad the smaller panel was then adhered with That's Crafty! Multi Purpose Glue directly on to the paper piece, tucking it under the lace as I did so. The larger panel was then adhered using more foam tape.

The floral images from the Just Grow stamp set were stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink on to pink paper from the 6 x 6 paper pad and then heat set with embossing powder. The images were fussy cut out and the leaves coloured using Inktense pencils

Extra flowers were then cut from papers from both the 6 x6 and 12 x 12 paper collections and layered in place until I was happy with the arrangement. The word love was cut out from the 6 x 6 panel paper.

I cast the lock piece from Luxembourg Hardware mould using Prima Modelling Material. Once the piece had set it was coloured using Charcoal Black Wax by Finnabair and then the detail enhanced with White Gold Vintage Metallique Wax.

Having collected all of my embellishment pieces these were then adhered into place using a mixture of Multi Surface Glue and Prima Heavy Body Gel. Finally I adhered my Upright into the base.
