Hi Everyone
This week I am sharing with you a card made from a pile of scraps from a previous project, we crafters never throw anything away lol.

Here's What I Did:

Taking a group of scrap pieces left over from a previous project I used them to make the background for this card.

These scraps weren't big enough on their own to use so I decided to die cut them into squares and piece them together creating a tiled effect as my background. The backgrounds had been previously made using That's Crafty! Crackle Glaze and so easy to do. Just cover your chosen surface in acrylic paint and let it dry, paint over with the crackle glaze (the thicker the glaze the bigger the cracks) and when that is touch dry just paint over with a contrast colour of acrylic paint and the crackle starts happening pretty quickly, let it all dry and then you have the perfect crackle background, all the paints I used were That's Crafty! Multi Surface Paints.
Back to my die cut squares, I arranged them in a pattern I like and then glued to a piece of black card. I also added a border around the tiles using the last bits of crackle card I had left.

Choosing 3 of the colours I had previously used, teal, Christmas Red and Mustard I painted each colour onto a piece of card.

and then stamped my central image for my card repeatedly in each of the colours.

I then fussy cut them out cutting a different section out each time to allow me to build up the image and stack them on top of each other for dimension. As I work on white card I don't like a white edge so I have gone around each cut out image with a black Kuretake Zig clean colour black pen.

Before adding it to my card I put some heavy cotton behind for a little texture, I also added some paint splatters in black and white to the background. The final addition of a Tim Holtz quote chip finishes it off before mounting onto a piece of black card and then onto a card blank.

Here's What I Used:
That's Crafty! Multi Surface Paints - Teal, Christmas Red, Mustard Yellow, Midnight Blue
Dina Wakley Gloss Media Spray - White (for splatters)
That's Crafty! Satin Inks - Black (for splatters)
Square die of punch
Black Cotton Thread
Foam Pads
Card Blank 7" x 7"

Have a fabulous crafty week and I will see you all next Tuesday
Love

  2. Just love those crackled tiles, and the mandala makes a great focal poing. The whole thing has a very Ottoman Empire feel to it to me - ornate, colourful, and also weathered and ancient.

  3. Gorgeously colourful card Amanda and a great way to use up those bits and pieces with the lovely crackled effect. The mandala flower is gorgeous too.
