Your Thoughts by Lynne Moncrieff

Hello

This week, it is only a peek at a small journal I am working in at the moment. Working in the journal as double page spreads, I wanted a book, small enough to hold in the hands that would be a place of meditative thoughts during these strange times.

Instructions

(Sorry, there are not stepped out photos for this)

Although the white/greyboard journals are ready for media, in this journal I worked with watercolour paper that I had prepared with the beautiful Pearl Inks. The paper is left to dry flat, no use of a heat tool, to allow the inks to settle.  Once dry, walnut ink was sprayed onto the paper, again leaving to air dry.

Taking two pages from the journal, the prepared paper was adhered, abrading the edges with scissors.

From more of the prepared paper, a circle was stencilled with Stabilo pencil, cutting out and adhering to the left side page. Misting the pencil area around the circle allows for a soft edge. At the same time, while the paper is damp, I made marks with the same pencil.

To this page, scraps of muslin and eco dyed paper were added for texture with the stamped word, still.  To the upper left corner, three squares cut from prepared paper.

On the facing page, one of the largest circles overhangs the page, simply cutting away excess and abrading those edges, layering a small circle.

To tie in with the facing page, the final words added... your thoughts.

As I worked on making marks with the Stabilo pencil, I would also dip the pencil end into walnut ink.

Touches of textiles layered as I cannot resist adding texture in this way.

Thanks for visiting this post - a short post compared to many of mine!
