Happy Birthday! by Amanda Pink

Hi Everyone and Welcome to my weekly DT post.
This week I have created a birthday card to share with you that features one of That's Crafty's stamp sets 'Flowers and Bubbles' designed by the very talented Melina Dahl . Melina has designed a number of lovely products for That's Crafty! and you can find them all in the shop here and here.
Theres nothing complicated about the creativity so it's a card that lends itself to any level of creative ability and the materials and colours I've worked with can easily be switched up for other alternatives.
I worked on Tan Toned Mixed Media Paper. It is similar in colour to kraft card so you could use that instead or if you prefer you could work on white or cream card.
I stamped with Versafine ink which I find to be quite a wet ink so I always either leave to air dry or dry with a heat gun.
I also used a stamping platform to stamp the 'Flowers and Bubbles' design leaving both the stamp and the stamped image 'in situ' on the platform after stamping. This allowed me to restamp (with ease and precision) all the fine detail of the petals, leaves and bubbles once I had coloured them .
PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Acrylic paints were my colour medium of choice but other acrylic paints, watercolour paints, inks, crayons could be used.
I painted the flower petals with Summer Sky, Smurf, Blue Jeans and Midnight and the leaves with Spring, Beanstalk and Gum boots. I also caught the edges of the flowers petals and leaves with distress markers -Blueprint Sketch for the petals, Lucky Clover for the leaves.
I then restamped the image, dried the ink and added a few simple highlights to the petals and leaves using a white pen.
To create the decoupaged petals and leaves I simply repeated all of the above, fussy cut the petals and leaves and adhered them in place.
Decoupaging the petals and leaves in this way gives both the flower and the card some lovely dimension.
Wanting the flower to be the focal feature I kept the background stamping pretty neutral. Just a bit of detail stamping using one of the stamps from PaperArtsy Eclectica ESA13 designed by Seth Apter and some white paint splatters.
To finish off the card I 'glossed' up the bubbles with some glossy accents...
...and added a 'Happy Birthday' sentiment courtesy of Tim. Holtz 'Occasions' small talk stickers which also worked perfectly as a grounding for the flowers.

The flowers look gorgeous in blue especially against the kraft background. Beautiful card Amanda.
