April Showers Bring May Flowers by Fliss Goodwin

I hope you're all staying safe and well in these troubled times and that, like me, you find a bit of crafting helps to keep you sane! I have some fairly simple note cards to share this week with a background that was created at the same time in my favourite way of using a mask.
Step by Step:
I took 2 sheets of A4 cartridge paper and one of my favourite mandala masks designed by Melina. This time, I chose to use pastel shades rather than my usual brights as I didn't want to overwhelm the flowers I planned to add so my lustre sprays came into play.
To begin, I placed the mandala in the centre of one of the sheets of paper and misted on pink, lemon and lime lustre sprays which give a lovely soft effect. I then pressed the inky stencil in the centre of the second sheet of paper to gain a very pretty negative print.
As you can see, The negative print has come out better as I misted slightly too much ink on the first time but it gives a totally different but toning effect.
I next stamped my chosen flowers directly on the background papers with black ink. I positioned them in the white areas as much as possible and in a couple of cases handily stamped over stray blobs of ink.
I stamped the same flowers on cartridge paper with black ink and coloured the flower heads and leaves with my new obsession, That's Crafty! satin inks which give such a lovely effect as they have a gorgeous sheen to them.
I cut out the flower heads and leaves and glued these in place over the stamped images on the background papers.
I added some stitching detail (very wonky like my machine or hand stitching!) with a fine black pan and distressed the edges with an emery board.
I wanted something a bit different for the sentiments so I stamped them on to white parchment paper with black ink, heat embossed them with clear powder and cut them into long strips. I wrapped these round the background papers, securing them at the back then glued all the finished papers to some kraft card blanks.
Here are some individual photos so you can see them better.
