'Love 365' Art Dome by Amanda Pink

11:00

Hi Everyone

Welcome to my weekly DT post.
Today I am sharing a unique piece of 'home decor' that I am calling an 'Art Dome'. It has a grungy feel and features some of Thats Crafty's Surfaces (Craftyboard, white/greyboard, MDF) and paper from Tim Holtz 'Abandoned' paper.

The 'dome' was creating using two of the shaped tags that are included on Thats Crafty's Craftyboard sheet called 'Tags'.

After popping the tags out of the sheet I covered them with one of Tim Holtz 'Abandoned' paper designs..... so many designs to love in this pad this grungy girl was spoilt for choice!!

To join the two tags together to make them 3D I cut a strip of card long enough to fit around them. I chose to work to a width of 2cm but added a 1cm fold at either side which would allow the strip to be adhered to the tags.
I also snipped into these folds at intervals along the length to ensure  the strip of card would bend easily  around the shaped tags.

Once the 3D strip was adhered in place I then covered it with a length of the same 'Abandoned' paper I'd covered the tags with.
I applied some DecoArt Black Modelling Paste around the 'joins' and added a touch of detail stamping using one of the stamps from PaperArtsy Eclectica ESA13 stamp set designed by Seth Apter.

For the focal feature on the front and back I used a couple of That's Crafty! White/Greyboard hearts and some lengths of chain taken from That's Crafty's Craftyboard sheet called 'Lightbulbs'.
The hearts were crackled with DecoArt Crackle Paint that I painted with black acrylic paint. I used vintage gold wax to emphasise the texture and embellished the hearts with bradded Tim Holtz Ideology story sticks.

Love...

No. 365.... which equals 'LOVE everyday of the year!'

The chains were simply cut away from the lightbulbs, painted with black acrylic paint and accented with vintage gold wax.

They were adhered in place using a couple of Ideology nails.

The platform on which the Art dome sits was created using a That's Crafty! MDF ATC and a That's Crafty! MDF ATC, Frames and Inserts. The two ATC's along with the insert were painted with Black acrylic paint and the frame was covered with left over bits of the 'Abandoned' paper. The edges were again caught with vintage gold wax.

Viewing the 'Art Dome' from an angle allows its 3d structure and unique shape to be fully appreciated.
