Staying At Home by Lynne Moncrieff

Hello

These are the strangest of times, the most terrifying of times. I could not help myself from creating a project which reflects the message of "staying at home".

Although the words Shelter and Sanctuary appear on this Chunkie, I am well aware that for some people, their home does not offer what many of us take for granted. Please don't think for one minute that I wasn't aware of that as I stamped those words.

I hope for those of you visiting this post, that your home provides shelter and is your sanctuary at these distressing times.

Supplies

That's Crafty! Clear Stamp Set Alphabet Stamp Set
That's Crafty! Surface MDF Chunkie 8" x 8" Pack of 2
That's Crafty! Surface MDF ATC Art Shrine (waste for house shape used as template)
That's Crafty! A4 Stencil Circles TC40002
That's Crafty! Multi-Purpose Craft Adhesive
That's Crafty! Medium - Gesso - White
That's Crafty! Multi-Surface Paints: White, Grey, Black
PaperArtsy Eclectica Mini ESA44
PaperArtsy Eclectica EAB15 Designed by Alison Bomber House & Home
Archival Ink Jet Black
Extras: old key, book text, watersoluble black pencil, cotton covered copper wire, white paint pen, scrap white cardstock

Instructions

After assembling Chunkie, using the That's Crafty! Multi-Purpose Craft Adhesive, paint was applied.  I don't want for each layer to dry, to provide a distressed effect, I work the paints together on the surface.

Once dry, a sponge applicator was dipped into the Grey paint with white paint dry brushed. Later, when the circles were dry, I then used the smallest circle on the A4 Circle Stencil, with white paint pen to define the circles.

Laying this aside, I then used the MDF waste from a That's Crafty! MDF Art House Shrine. A house shape could easily be doodled but I had this to hand.

With this and circles cut from the A4 Circles Stencil, all onto book text washed with Gesso.

The cut outs were adhered to scrap cardstock for stability and edging with the black soluble pencil which I misted with water, once adhered to the Chunkie. Smudging the black and pulling the black away from the shapes adds definition and a grungy appearance.

That's Crafty! Alphabet Stamp Set was the perfect set for me to reach for the words I wanted to appear in the house shape.

You can imagine why I was drawn towards the words on one of the PaperArtsy EAB quotes....staying at home.

Cotton covered copper wire wrapped around an old key forms an embellishment.

PaperArtsy Mini designed by Seth Apter, was a perfect stamp for stamping some final touches.

Stay Safe,
Lynne x
