Poppy in Purple by Fliss Goodwin

Hello!

I have something a little different to share this week as the colour of the poppy which isn't true to nature came about because of the background colours. Read on to find out why it ended up this particular colour.

What I Did:

The background I created was the result of some experimenting with flat matte sprays and one of Melina's gorgeous masks that made its' debut on the May Hochanda shows.

I took an A4 sheet of smooth cartridge paper and placed the mix up mask on one side. I then misted on 3 shades of flat matte spray, starting with saffron, then basil and finally orange. Once I was happy with this side, I flipped the stencil over and placed it on the other side, pressing to transfer any leftover ink. I then did some further spraying with the same shades and below you will see the end result.

I cut a piece of the paper to fit my square card blank and as the end result is rather striking and bold, I had a bit of a dilemma as to what I should embellish it with. I decided on the colour of the mat I felt I should add by trial and error and the colour that made the background paper pop just happened to be purple. No other colour would do!

I stamped my chosen poppy on smooth cartridge paper with black ink and painted it with diluted purple and lime multi surface paints then cut the image out.

I then stamped my quote on some paper also painted with diluted purple paint, stamping with Versamark ink and heat embossing with white embossing powder. I then assembled everything on a kraft card blank.

Have a great weekend (a long one if you're in the UK) and see you next week.
