Grunge Flower Cards by Amanda Pink

Welcome to my weekly DT post of creativity .
Seems I'm having a run of 'creating card's at the mo as this week I am sharing a couple more.
This time I have used one of That's Crafty! recently released stamp sets - 'Grunge Flowers Set 3' designed by Melina Dahl.
The design is the same for both cards. They differ only in size, imagery colour and quotes though the camera lens seems to want to suggest otherwise!?!



For the central card panels I worked on Toned Tan Mixed Media Paper. This has the same properties as mixed media paper but rather than being the regular 'off white' colour it has a light brown tone to it. It's  heavier too - 300g which I personally prefer to use especially for a base substrate.

Theres nothing too complicated or fussy about the creativity - mainly stamping,  painting, spritzing and matt n layering.
The flowers and 'bubbles' from the stampset were stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink and heat set.
The petals of the flowers were painted with Dina Wakley Heavy Body Acrylic paints - one in blue (Sky)


and one in Red ( Ruby). You could use any colours and any colouring medium of your choice - paints, crayons, inks...


I also whitened out the 'bubbles' using PaperArtsy Snowflake Fresco Finish acrylic paint before adding a touch of colour to each of them.
Some drops of Glossy Accents in each of the 'bubbles' made them look more 'bubble like' 


and some black pen marks gave them a sense of movement. All the stamped imagery was shadowed lightly using a soft leaded pencil.


The backgrounds were treated to some stamping detail and a generous splattering of white paint.
  Tim Holtz small talk stickers provided the 'words'.
For the blue grunge flower card - 'Do what you love, 


love what you do'


and for the red grunge flower card - 'There is beauty


in simplicity.' 


Both stamped panels were matt n layered on to ivory and black card mounts before being adhered to handmade kraft cards.

Strathmore Toned Tan Mixed Media Paper
Cardstock: Kraft, Ivory, Black.

    Lovely work with those flowers... and I like the look of that tan paper (though I run a mile from tan leather... much prefer dark brown!). Great background detailing to add energy to the cards - and I like this journey into a simpler look. You wear it well!
