Sugar Skulls by Tracey Fairgrieve

Hello everyone

Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead as we more commonly know it
I find everything about it so intriguing, with it's history from Ancient time, parades
and festivals. The whole concept of celebrating our dearly departed
*Loved ones* each year seems so respectful.

Here's a little project put together creating some of those brightly coloured Calaveras or Sugar Skulls as we know them, using some new That's Crafty! products.

Using the newly released Dinky Skull Stencil, I drew around the inner skull six times, cut out three and darkened the facial apertures of the other three with black ink.

The lower jaw I snipped off as I wanted to layer these on top to give dimension.
I then had a play stamping images from all four new sets of Lynne’s Affirmations
with Memento inks as well as the lower jaws on the full skulls.

Onto a 7x7 card I stamped around the edges using those same stamps creating a border. The stamped Skulls were layered on top of the full Skulls with foam and a
sentiment stamped from set 6 of Lynne's Affirmations.

Those googly eyes were an irresistible addition.

All matt and layered with contrasting black card I finally edged the
eye and nose sockets with a black marker to give more depth.

My *Sugar Skull* card is complete.

Thank you for sharing your time.
I Look forward to sharing some more
That's Crafty! creativity with you all very soon.

Take Care.

I love those eyes, lol- and the way you made the skulls 3-dimentional using foam , they are so sweet, really, and your coloring fantastic as usual. Lynne`s affirmation fits so beautiful, here. Bravo for using the stencil so amazing.
