Floral Explosion by Fliss Goodwin
11:00Hello!
I have an explosion of flowers to share this week as with the current rather cold weather, I find that I'm really longing for Spring to arrive with some warmer weather. This reflects my dreams of times to come when flowers are blooming.
Step by Step:
My chosen substrate is an 8 inch MDF round from a set of several sizes, very useful if you're a big fan of circular artwork as I am.
I covered the round with a mop up paper towel from my supply which was used to blot excess spray from when I was using Flat Matte sprays. As it's mostly green, it's the ideal background for my flowers and it has lots of lovely texture too.
I then took one of the new stamps from Melina, a sort of scribbly text and stamped this on randomly with black ink.
I next prepared my flowers, choosing to use one of the gorgeous daisy stamps designed by Liz Wheeler. I stamped lots with black ink on smooth cartridge paper. I painted them all with Pentart Liquid Watercolours choosing blue, pink and yellow for a lovely Springlike feel. I cut them all out - it took a while but I was listening to the radio which I find helps pass the time more easily.
I glued the flowers to the background to form a wreath shape and then set about creating my central focal point. I stamped one of the large floral word images by Melina Dahl on white card with black ink and coloured the floral elements with pencils. I cut the word out and glued it to a black card base, trimming around the edges to leave a black border.
I finished the piece off with some toning wool tied through the holes at the top.
Supplies:
Have a great weekend and see you next week.
