Altered
embroidery hoops are very en trende at the moment however it does seem a pity
to be using a proper hoop when That's Crafty! have their own faux hoops there
are now. For this project I chose the larger of the two hoops in the set.
I
started by giving the base and ring a layer of Bright Blue Multi Surface Paint. Once this had dried I added a layer of That's Crafty! Crackle Glaze. When
this layer had dried I then painted on a layer of Light Blue Multi Surface Paint and watched the magic happen.
I started to create my focal composition by taking the large Craftyboard Doily from and added some stamping around the outside using the script stamp and butterfly stamps from Small Elements 1 using Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide. The edges of the doily were then coloured with Speckled Egg Distress Oxide.
I added detail to the small doily from the Craftyboard set by spraying Speckled Egg Distress Oxide Spray through the That's Crafty! Magnificent Mandala Stencil.I adhered the large mandala in the centre of the hoop then added a paper doily from my stash and then the small Craftyboard doily on top putting a layer of grey board inbetween the paper doily and small doily. The title of my project was created using one of the Craftyboard Domino pieces which was stamped with one of the small stamps from the small elements set and Versafine Clair Blue Belle Ink and the word freedom from the Lots of Words Stamp Set before adding three layers of clear embossing powder over the top.

Such a pretty piece Gill. Love the shades of blue and all the layers are so gorgeous.
