That's Crafty!: Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens

Hi everyone,

Donna here today with a yummy new stamp set from Rubberdance and my beloved Oxides….again ;)

What to do:

I used two sheets of Strathmore Mixed Media Paper for the background and the owls.

Layer up the Oxides by dabbing a selection of colours on your craft mat, spritzing with water and blotting with the paper, keep going until you’ve achieved the effect you want, dry thoroughly with a heat gun.

Stamp the owls on the other piece of paper with black Archival ink and once again dab some Oxides onto your craft mat but this time pick them up with a water brush to colour the owls in. Add some white dots with a Posca pen and some sparkle from a Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen.

Fussy cut the owls out, very carefully of course, and adhere to the front of the background.

For the finishing touches, stamp a couple of Rubber Dance flowers and leaves, I used my Zig pens to colour those in but anything will do, fussy cut out and adhere to the top and end of the branch.

Mount onto black card, then white cardstock and add a Tim Holtz sentiment, some pearl bling and you’re owl finished, sorry ;)

And a very Happy New Year to you all.

I start my year with my homage to Azoline, one of the stamp designers for Carabelle Studio. It wasn’t an intentional homage but it has ended up as such.

Here’s What I Did:-

I started with a gelli print as my background, I used one of my rejects from my box as I knew that I would be mostly covering it up. Taking several colours of Stazon ink I randomly stamped flowers from many of Azolines stamp sets all over the background randomly changing the colour of my ink pad. Over this I then stamped the main flower with versamark and covered with black embossing powder and heated. I then coloured the flower with Spectrum Noir sparkle pens and a white gel pen. Unfortunately the photograph just doesn’t show the sparkle. I then stamped the border stamp all around the card before I cut it into strips and glued to black card. I stamped and coloured the little ladybird girl, her cloak is in sparkle pen, and cut her out and added to the card. The sentiment is a Tim Holtz Chit Chat sticker.

Hi everyone

That’s Crafty have taken delivery of some of the latest release of new designs from one of my favourite stamp brands, Carabelle Studio. They have released some fabulous new designs and my piece today shows you one of those new designs.

Here’s What I Did:-

I needed to make background so chose to create on my Gelli Plate. I brayered several colours of PaperArtsy Fresco paints onto the Gelli Plate just blending them on the edges where each colour met. I then pulled my print. I then brayered more Fresco paint in blue and lay the bubbles stencil on top of the paint, using another piece of card I took a print with the stencil still in place this removes the paint from the Gelli Plate from all the open spaces in the stencil (that print will get used another time) I then removed the stencil and going back to my originally pulled print, laid that on the Gelli Plate to pull the blue bubbles.

I then stamped the new Dutch Tulips stamp twice to give me more tulips. I then stamped them twice again onto some white paper, cut them out and then paper pierced them back over the stamped images. Additional stamped paper piercing was adding including the “Live Free” sign.

I then coloured parts of it with paint pens. The raindrops have all been coloured using Sparkle pens which really make the raindrops glisten, sadly I couldn’t get this to show on a photo.

I then matted onto black card and then onto a card blank.

Hi Everyone

I am a huge fan of Dina Wakley and especially her stamps so when I saw a preview of her summer releases I knew I would have a purchase coming on. The new Dina stamps have arrived at That’s Crafty and I just had to have an immediate play with the Boxed Faces set. With 3 fabulous faces to choose from in the set I chose this one. The others I will be playing with soon.

Here’s What I Did:-

I started by stamping one of the images onto mixed media paper and left the bound torn edge on. I then coloured the image first with Distress Inks laying down a light coloured wash with them using a water brush. I then added deeper colour with blendable coloured pencils. I then coloured the lips and the eye lid with a Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen. This is the first time of using these pens and they blend like watercolours and have so much lovely sparkle that unfortunately doesn’t show in the photo, but trust me they sparkle. I really wanted to add a collaged look to the face so on a piece of painted scrap card from my bit box I stamped the portion of the face I wanted. I highlighted the white of the eye with a white Posca pen but a white gel pen would do the same.

Then to collage my background for my image. I stamped the alphabet border from another of Dina’s new releases and also the circle from an older Dina set. With the rest of my painted scrap card I cut it up into strips and applied to my page to emerge from behind my image. To add a bit more bling I drew a swirl across the page with a tacky glue waited it to dry but still tacky and then applied the foil, again picture doesn’t do it justice.

You can see the foil just catching the light here hopefully. I also added touches of foil randomly in the squares of the grid circle.

Final touch was to cut 3 small squares and stamp the scribble text onto them and add them with 3D gel or foam mounts and added an adhesive gem to each. I then added some gems to the boxed face.

I finished by stamping the sentiment that comes with the boxed face set. All was then matted onto black card and added to a card blank.
