Grungy Journal Page by Nikki Acton
00:00
Hi everyone. Today’s project is
one of the That’s Crafty! A4 Journal pages that were featured on Hochanda in
January. Love this whiteboard/greyboard surface allowing lots of paint and
texture to be thrown on it! The journals come as a pack of 7 pages with book
rings to hold the pages together.
I began with painting the page in various colours of PaperArtsy Fresco Chalk Paints
– Baltic Blue, Lake Wanaka, Toffee and Taupe. I used a large brush and worked
with vertical brush strokes until I was happy with the background. Once dry I
took some black gesso and an old credit card and added some vertical lines,
added a little water to the paint and splattered and then sponged (cut and dry
foam) the black gesso onto the boarder of the page.
I also randomly added paint to some
white card using Baltic Blue and Toffee. Once dry I stamped the flower from
That’s Crafty! stamp set – Beki and
cut them out. I added a little more paint in places and highlights with a white
Sharpie paint pen. I adhered them to the surface along with some black cotton.
Finally I stamped one of the wonderful
quotes from Inspirational Quotes Set 1 and cut out the words. Once adhered to
the surface I added some scribbly lines around them to highlight.
See you next
week!
Nikki

Love this Nikki. Your background is fabulous in those moody blues and love the use of the flowers, so creative. The black edging frames it perfectly too.
