If You Are Travelling by Gill Humphrey

Having made used Sir Vagabond in Japan last week for a very sea themed diorama this week I decided I would focus much more on the feminine oriental aspects of the collection. For the base of the project I have used a 7 x 11" Faux Reverse MDF Canvas constructed with multi purpose glue. I cut paper from the 12 x 12 Sir Vagabond in Japan collection to fit inside the recess of the box - edging the papers with brown Archival ink.

I used Pentart Modelling Paste through the Bamboo stencil and also through the text part of the tree stencil and left it to dry before painting over a custom mix of Avocado and Light Blue Allegro paint. Once the green blue paint had dried I painted over the frame with Ivory paint and once that had dried sanded back the ivory paint to reveal the details of the stencil.

Next I made the padogda, Geisha girl and lampshades by using Amazing Casting Resin and the Pagoda mould. Once they had set I used some of the custom colour for the frame for parts of the moulds adding in Brick Red for the wooden parts of the pagoda and deliberately leaving the windows largely unpainted. The lights were painted with ivory paint and then details added with Black, Cardinal Red and light blue paint. The surface details were then highlighted with Gold Wax.

The Geisha figure was painted with the same colour palette plus Indian Turquoise for the dress and a custom mix of pink made with Cardinal Red and white paint for the flowers. The hair was painted black and the chopsticks and parasol handle with Corn. Again the details were highlighted with gold wax.

Once the figurines were completed they were placed in the shadow box as shown with Pagodga Chipboards tucked in along side the lotus flowers and geisha figure from the clear coloured die cuts pack. Finally I added moss and faux flowers as shown in the pictures.
