Gatherings by Lynne Moncrieff

 Hello

For this collage, I wanted to take one of the Eco Dyed Botanical papers, adding Flat Matt Sprays, Liquid Acrylic Wax and Pearl Ink to alter the paper design.

Supplies

Instructions

I selected this paper to work with from the Eco Dyed Botanicals Paper Pack.

I wanted to add media to the paper from the Eco Dyed Botanicals paper, first adding touches of the Flat Matte Sprays, subtle touches as I didn't want to obscure the design of the paper.

I found that when working with the media, I used a damp cloth and got interesting results as it removed some of the initial print which you can see the difference from the original paper in the above photo. I aim to play around with this more for other papers to see what results can be achieved.

The paper was then adhered to the MDF panel before applying a layer of Liquid Acrylic Wax. Once dry, I continued to play with the Liquid Acrylic Wax, this time focusing on areas of pooled wax, which would then form crackles. As this dried, I dripped Antique Gold Pearl Ink to those areas and also lightly edging the panel with the Antique Gold.

For the circle (using the A4 Stencil Circles), I had a piece of cotton rag paper already prepared with Gesso, the sprays and touches of walnut ink.

To this all I needed to do was add the lightest of touches of Antique Gold Pearl Ink and finally, the Liquid Acrylic Wax.

As with the leaf, it was already in my stash.

To create the watercolour effect, it is simply a matter of inking the edges of the stamp with the Distress Ink. After stamping the image, take a watercolour brush and pull the ink towards the centre of the image, adding depth with Flat Matte Sprays in Sage and Ochre. Add droplets of water to allow colour to wick. Once dry, form drops of Liquid Acrylic Wax, immediately adding drops of Pearl Ink Antique Gold to those droplets.

Layer the leaf and circle to the panel, trapping cotton thread (eco dyed) around bottom edge of panel.

Stamp Nature's Gatherings onto piece of prepared cotton rag paper, layering to stem of leaf.

Finally, with Stabilo ALL pencil, loosely sketch three circles on upper right side of panel.

Thank you for your visit.

Wishes
