Time to Dream by Fliss Goodwin

Happy Easter everyone!

This week I have a mixed media piece of artwork to share that had everything but the kitchen sink thrown at it and it just goes to show how well That's Crafty! MDF substrates can take everything you might want to use in your artwork.

What I Did:

I prepped my surface with a coat of white gesso first and then used texture paste to stencil on a pattern with the gorgeous new Honeycomb Circles stencil. I then used a variety of Flat Matte Sprays, Lustre Sprays and Multi Surface Paints in shades of green and purple (one of my favourite colour combinations) to colour the plaque.

My next task was to decorate up the MDF heart that I wanted to use as an embellishment so I added some of the gorgeous new Gritty Bitz to texture paste, mixed in some Lavender Multi Surface Paint and spread this all over the surface. The colour wasn't quite right so I painted a mix of Pearl and Lilac Pearl inks over the top and this gave a lovely contrast to the plaque.

I stamped just the top of the floral collage stamp I chose several times on smooth cartridge paper with black ink and heat embossed the images with clear embossing powder. I painted them roughly with Zig Clean Color markers, using a pinky lilac with orange in the centre. I then cut out the flowers.

I took a greyboard bird, and painted on a coat of white gesso. I then coloured him with a mix of Zig markers and coloured pencils in shades of greenish yellow for a strong contrast with the rest of the elements.

I assembled my plaque as you see, using dimensional silicone glue as the heart element is quite heavy and needed some strong glue to keep it firmly in place.

I finished off with my text which was put together with some of the very useful words from an ATCoin stamp set, stamping on spray overflow paper, cutting the words out and edging them with a purple marker to make them pop.
