Come Fly with Me by Samantha Read

Hello!
I love how personal art can be, I have many happy memories of going to airshows with my dad and late husband, I plan on taking my grandson to some when he's older. Recently my daughter moved to a place not far from RAF Brize Norton so as I'm driving I have to stop myself being distracted by aeroplanes!! Back to art, memories and a recent drive inspired this artist trading block and it may look familiar as it was on the most recent That's Crafty! Hochanda shows.
What I did
I put the 4in x 4in cube together and gave it a couple of coats of white gesso and using stencil added some flower details for texture. Blending multi surface paints I created the fields and sky. After giving greyboard flowers a coat of gesso I painted some with pearl inks and sprayed others. I stamped text and postmarks and added clouds also using a stencil and sand texture paste. I highlighted the stenciled flowers by using white paint. The planes were all painted with gesso then metallic silver, some adhered directly on the cube and some flying high and looping the loop on wire. I achieved the flying planes by using silicone glue and a wooden bead on the top of the cube. To finish I added some text, splats and wooden bead feet.
What I used
That's Crafty! Multi Surface Paints - I used; Lime, Light Blue, Teal and Bright Blue
That's Crafty! Metallic Multi Surface Paints - I used Silver
That's Crafty! Pearl Inks - I used; Red, Blue and Yellow
(From my stash; wire and wooden beads)
I do hope you like it, thanks for looking, see you next Wednesday, Sam xx

I can almost imagine flying off for my much needed hols after seeing this Sam. The scenes are so beautifully painted and decorated and love the clever looping the loop planes.

Absolutely LOVE this! Sam. Such a great interactive piece of creativity . x
ReplyDeleteSam, this could only be created by your artistic hands! It was as though all those pieces were created with you in mind, the way you work with them so effortlessly, I am in awe!
