Flower Power! A Trio of Artist Trading Coins by Fliss Goodwin

11:00

Hello!

This week I have some artist trading coins on a floral theme to share using my favourite way to add a background which is very easy to do on the small surface for your artwork.
It's also my first inking up of these gorgeous flower stamps by our Ingrid and having now inked them, I suspect it won't be long before they make another appearance as I love them!

Step by Step:

As these were all made in the same way, just with different stencils and colours, I'll explain the technique then give you some close ups with the individual details under them as I've done before.

I created my coins with the MDF coin blanks and gave each one a coat of white gesso first. I then used some Dinky stencils with texture paste to add a raised pattern to the coins.

Once the texture paste was dry, I painted them all with a coat of multi surface paint. I then used a selection of flat matte and lustre sprays to add more colour and shimmer. In the case of the floral one, I also added colour to the flowers with a Zig marker to deepen the shade a little.

I stamped the flowers and leaves on smooth cartridge paper using black pigment ink and clear embossed the images. I coloured them with flat matte sprays and added detail with Zig markers then cut them out.

The text was stamped on spray overflow paper scraps using black pigment ink and heat embossing with clear powder.

This one uses the MS009 Leaves mini stencil with Evergreen multi surface paint, Basil and Saffron flat matte sprays and Lime lustre spray. The flower was painted with Rose and Orange flat matte spray and detail added with a green Zig marker. The leaves were painted with Basil and Saffron flat matte sprays.

Here I have used the TC093 Flowers Dinky stencil with Magenta multi surface paint, Raspberry flat matte spray and Gold lustre spray. The flowers were coloured with a Zig pink marker and gold glitter glue dotted in the centres. The stamped flower embellishment was painted with Saffron and Orange flat matte spray with detail using a green Zig marker. The leaves were painted with mixed Basil and Saffron flat matte sprays with detail added using an ochre Zig marker.

For this one I have used the TC085 Tree Dinky stencil and then I first sprayed on Basil and Walnut flat matte sprays, then painted the tree with Bronze multi surface paint. I then added Lime and Gold lustre sprays. The flower was painted with Bluebell and Orange flat matte spray and detail added with a green Zig marker. The leaves were painted with mixed Basil, Bluebell and Saffron flat matte sprays.
