Rainbow Blooms by Samantha Read

Hello! You may have noticed that That's Crafty! had a One Day Special on Hochanda featuring some beautiful new stamps designed by Melina. As soon as saw the tulip stamp I knew I wanted to make a row of rainbow blooms.
What I did
I started by flipping it round and making it landscape instead of portrait, it was easy to make the new holes using a Crop-A-Dile, I then added texture using Texture Sand Paste and a stencil to one of the new MDF plaques, then a couple of coats of white gesso and a final coat of a white acrylic paint.
I then stamped the tulip 7 times on white tissue paper and painted on the reverse using Multi Surface Paints and cut them out. Using a 50/50 mixture of PVA glue and water I glued them in place. I stamped more details directly on to the MDF plaque, also using newly released stamps and some colourful splats using the new Pearl Inks, which are amazing to use, the intensity of colour and amount of mica is stunning!
To finish I added the text which I highlighted using Glossy Accents, added highlights to the tulips using the new pearl inks and ribbon and beads for hanging.

Just gorgeous Sam. The row of rainbow tulips pop so well against your lovely splattered background and it feels like Spring might be on the way at last. Love the beaded hanger too.

ReplyDeleteI really love this Sam. The white texture backdrop is just ideal for your beautiful coloured tulips. The coloured bead are a wonderful complimenting accent to your hangingwire . Great to see it shown on TV .
