Hello! I have another tag to share this week as I seem to be addicted to them at the moment! This one being cool in blues, the perfect antidote to the current heatwave we seem to have here in the UK at the moment.

Step by Step

I chose to use the largest white/greyboard tag and coloured this by adding dabs of multi surface paint near the top (I used bright blue, light blue and white), spreading the colour down the tag with an old store card. I repeated this step until the tag was covered, messy but great fun!

I next added some stencilling for detail, starting with the feathers Dinky stencil and bright blue multi surface paint in opposite corners. I then used the distressed harlequin background Dinky stencil with white multi surface paint randomly over the painted background.

I decided to add some more detail so painted lines round the right hand edges of the diamond shapes with mustard yellow multi surface paint. I drew around the feather shapes with a white Posca pen, adding more detail with the same pen plus a black Posca pen and purple multi surface paint.

I painted a white/greyboard match for my bird stamp with purple, lavender and mustard yellow multi surface paints, then stamped the bird on top with black pigment ink and hat embossed it with clear powder. I then added a little more detail with my Zig clean color pens.

I glued my painted bird to the background, then stamped my chosen affirmation on a scrap of mixed media paper with Archival Cobalt ink and cut this into tiles, gluing to the tag. I finished off with a scrap of toning wire ribbon tied through the top.

Hello everyone, I have another of those fabulous chunkies to share this week (I can't seem to get enough of these at the moment!) and this one is very bright and cheery as I was feeling summery and couldn't resist sharing this to bring a bit of sunshine which has been sorely lacking until the last few days.

Step by Step

I assembled the chunkie first using the That's Crafty! glue pen which is really great with the fine nozzle.  Once it was put together I painted it with a coat of white gesso. I then used the honeycomb stencil with texture sand paste to add a random pattern round the edges.

When the paste was dry, I painted the surface with a mix of lime, teal and yellow multi surface paints, carrying this on around all the sides to make them match in.

I painted a selection of white/greyboard matches in floral and leaf shapes with multi surface paints and once the paint was dry, stamped on the corresponding stamp image with black ink. I added a little extra colour to the pink flowers with a purple marker.

I assembled the front of the chunkie using 3D glue to attach and layer up the flowers and leaf sprigs and finished off with a white/greyboard plaque from the matches set painted a toning orange shade and stamped with the quote using black ink.

Hello crafters, it's Fliss here today with another of the amazing That's Crafty! Chunkies and in this case it's had almost everything but the kitchen sink thrown at it and it stood the test so well that I think this will be my favourite mixed media surface. Apologies in advance for the long supplies list which does seem to have everything but the kitchen sink!

Step by Step

The first thing I did was to assemble my 8 x 8 Chunkie as I was planning to add lots of layers and textures to the background so sticking it together first avoids any gluing problems that might happen otherwise.

I brushed a coat of white gesso all over and then used the flourish stencil with white texture paste to add a pattern in opposite corners. Once it was dry, I then brushed purple multi surface paint all over.


My next layer was crackle glaze on just the front, which I brushed roughly over. Once it was dry, I coated it with lavender multi surface paint and left it for the crackle to appear.


I then set about making my embellishments starting with the heart which I made by cutting a piece of mixed media paper and creating the pattern with a heart stencil using texture paste. I painted this with light pink multi surface paint when it was dry. I cut the heart shape out swiped on Wilted Violet Oxide ink to add interest.


I next took a couple of the white/greyboard matches for my stamps and painted these with Light Pink and Light Blue Multi Surface Paints, smearing Purple around the outside. I then stamped on the matching image using VersaFine Imperial Purple ink. I did this by attaching the stamp to an acrylic block then pressed the painted side of the matching shape down onto the stamp, pressing lightly to transfer the ink. I heat embossed the images with clear powder.

I added detail to my flowers with oxide inks, using Wilted Violet and Broken China to pick out areas, applying the inks with a paintbrush and by swirling with the brush, you get a lovely soft effect over the top of the paint under layer.


I painted some white paper flowers with the same pastel paints, brushing a little purple round the edges to make them pop. I then took some greyboard butterflies and painted these with light blue multi surface paint. I added details with the same oxide inks and found if you swipe the paintbrush gently across the ink and then apply in light strokes to the painted surface, you can achieve a pretty feathered effect.


I next painted a white/greyboard leafy sprig match with Mint and Lime Multi Surface Paints, stamping and heat embossing as before and adding detail with the Wilted Violet Oxide ink.


I then assembled my panel as you see using 3D glue and adding some metal buttons and pearls to bring the flowers to life. I finished off with a white/greyboard plaque painted light blue, then stamped with the purple ink and heat embossed, adding the tiny butterfly in the corner.

Hello, it's Fliss here today with a rather bold monochromatic piece of artwork to share because I don't know about you, but I really like the striking look you can achieve by simply using black and white, especially if you combine it with plenty of texture as I have done here.

The texture on here comes from heat embossing in various ways and the first thing I did was to cover my mdf panel with a good coat of black multi surface paint. As the paint is quite rich and creamy, one coat is usually all that's needed to cover the surface.

I then used the sequin waste texture stamp with black pigment ink to stamp all the way down the right side of the panel. You can see where you've stamped as the multi surface paint is matte when dry and the ink has a bit of shine to it. Once it was all stamped up, I sprinkled on clear embossing powder and heat set it with my heat gun. This gives some lovely texture with a hint of gloss from the embossed areas.


I next cut a panel of white stamping card to fit on the left side of the panel and stamped on my flourish design with black pigment ink, stamping by twisting the image as I went and adding sections going off the sides until the panel was covered. I heat embossed the flourishes with clear embossing powder. I trimmed the panel slightly and glued it onto the black background.

I took my chosen floral image and stamped this onto the matching white/greyboard shape with black pigment ink, heat embossing as before. You'll notice in my photo that the floral image looks cream, but this is just a trick of the light as my camera struggled a bit and it really is white!

I stamped my chosen text on a scrap of white stamping paper with black ink, adding a black mat and glued this to the background with my 3D flower to finish.
