The Most Effective Way by Gill Humphrey
11:00This week I have created a this way that way book using some of the products in the shop - its deceptively easy to do and can use up lots of different scraps of paper although I do like each page to have a co-ordinating feel and focal point which means its a project that is just right for using the Collectables paper collections by Stamperia.
The base for my tag book is created using the Oriental Tag Block. I simply joined 7 tags together by cutting off the top of some of the tags and then cutting the left over rectangle to 1.5" wide and then scoring in half along the short length - the pieces were then simply adhered to the tags using mountain and valley founds. The back of the tags where the joins could be seen then had another tag adhered in place to conceal the joining mechanism. Yes there are really that many tags in the block making it incredibly good value especially as its in the sale at the moment. Just remember to add the ties to the first and last tags before you layer the two together to give you a tie for both sides - I used string for mine.
For consistency I used Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide through the crackles stencil on all of the tags. The edges of the tags and all papers and Decorative Chipboards were inked with the same ink pad.
Next I selected elements from the Sir Vagabond Aviator collection - although this is out of stock the 6 x 6 paper pad is in stock and has the same images in the correct size (as they are adhered flat the bonus of reversibility from the Collectables is not required).
I chose Decorative Chips that would work with the theme of my book - travel, New York and cogs from my stash - you could either die cut some cogs or alternatively use the cogs in the steampunk flowers greyboard set by Stamperia painting them with some Ivory paint before distressing with the Gathered Twigs ink pad.
The pictures below show the opposite side of the book.
I hope you like this project and hope to see variations in lots of different papers - the black tags in the block would look amazing with the Desire collection and the white ones with the latest Welcome Home collection.
