One For The Dad's by Amanda Southern

Hi Everyone
As Sunday was Fathers Day I thought I would share with you the card I made for my Dad, this would also work as a Birthday card, of course with a change of sentiment. I've gone quite clean and simple with this one using a selection of stamps and stencils from AALL & Create.

Here's What I Did:

My Dad is a huge steam train fan so this stamp from AALL & Create got it's first outing. Stamped onto stamping card using versafine clair black and I also used a stamping platform. Once stamped I left the image in the platform. I had die cut the letters to spell Dad using my neglected Scan & Cut machine. Once I had blown the dust off it I cut out the letters. Taking the 'A' I laid it over my previously stamped image, lining it up to the part that I wanted to transfer to the letter A and stamped again.

I then coloured both the main image and the same image on the A using Zig Colour Clean Brush Markers. I stamped the numbers stamp onto both of the letter D's and shaded with some Black Soot Distress ink, blending around the edges of each letter. Before adding the letters I stencilled the AALL & Create stencil using Black Soot Distress ink using a blending tool avoiding going over the train image.

I then positioned the letters and added with dimension using 3D Gel. The sentiment was then added but you could add any sentiment you wanted, depending on the occassion. Matted onto black card and added to an 8" x 8" card blank.

Here's What I Used:
AALL & Create #28  (back in stock soon)
Distress Ink Pad - Black Soot
Electronic Die Cutting Machine (Scan & Cut)
Sentiment
8" x 8" Card Blank

I clean & simple one from me this week that could be adapted for a male birthday card especially, if like my Dad, they are a train fan.
Have a great week and I will see you next Tuesday
Love
Amanda X

  3. What a clever card - brilliant design with the stencilling so that it looks as though the train is emerging towards us - a nice bit of optical illusion. And the train itself is a treat, especially with the cutting and layering for all that dimension. Love the touch of earthy colour on the sleepers. Fab!
