Encaustic Art by Debs Wainwright

00:00

Hello everyone Debs here with some Encaustic Art.

What I did

I chose several papers which coordinated sharing the colour white (a new fav of mine) choosing bits from the large sheet I tore them off roughly and adhered them to my substrate. I also added some microbeads to add some texture.

Next I used a white Gelato around the edges and generally tied the piece together. While this was drying I heated my bees wax in the melt pot and chose my embellishments.

I gave one coat of the wax and then embedded my embellishments where I wanted them. I gave another layer of the wax and heated it with the heat tool to fix it. This is useful to even out the wax.

I now added some silver coloured chain and waxed over it. Once I was happy with the layers I added a small MDF heart which I had distressed. I added another chain for interest and thought I had finished.

However, I kept going back to it, and decided it needed more. I added some designs by using a poki tool but still was not satisfied. So, I added some more wax in bronze, and another smaller MDF heart.
