Serendipity by Donna Gray

Hello
everyone,
Donna
here today, getting arty with a large That’s Crafty! MDF tag.
What To Do:
Firstly,
gesso the whole tag, dry thoroughly.
For
this I used Fresco paints for a change, apply a thin wash to the background to
start with. I mainly used the translucent colours for this.
Next,
take a Crafters Workshop stencil (mini aboriginal) and dab more Fresco paint
through it, remember to not put too much on or it will seep under the
stencil…and yes I still do that even though I should know better!
Use
one of the silhouette figure’s from a Donna Downey stencil to once again dab
more paint through. I absolutely adore this stencil, it’s so versatile.
Line
up the word serendipity from the Andy Skinner stencil and trace through with a
black pen. Sand it back a little bit so it doesn’t become the focus of the
piece. In fact I used a sanding block on the whole tag a few times apart from
the figure, which I wanted as the main focal point to remain standing out.
For
the rest of it I’ve used some Dinky stencils, a Tim Holtz stencil, a
piece of sequin waste and a couple of my hand carved stamps, all randomly
applied. The trick to this is to provide interest to the eye to move all around
the tag without overcrowding it too much.
A
bit of outlining around the figure with your choice of pencil, a little flick
of white paint and a Tim Holtz sentiment provide the finishing touches.
Supplies Used:
Speedycarve Block to make your own stamps
Hope
you like it
