Creatures Under The Sea by Fliss Goodwin

Hello!

I hope you caught the shows on The Craft Store yesterday with the absolutely amazing new stamp designs from the very talented Kelly O'Gorman.

I have one of my samples to share today, in fact my favourite that I found very hard to part with as I love this gorgeous seahorse so much. Read on to find out how I created my artwork.

Step by Step:

I began the project by decorating the frame which I wanted to make very textured so I covered it with texture paste and then roughed it up with a palette knife.

I then added some sand texture paste with my fingers to create even more texture.

Once it was completely dry I began to paint the frame with metallics using Blue and Green Multi Surface Metallic Paints.

I then prepared the back section which I decided to cover with paper. I misted some smooth cartridge paper with Aqua and Bluebell Flat Matte Sprays with a small amount of Aqua Lustre Spray on top. I then used the new circle stencil with Teal Multi Surface Paint to add a bubble pattern on the coloured paper and then added 3D Holographic Gel over the top.

I stamped the seahorse image twice on smooth card with black ink and coloured them with Zig brush pens. I then stamped the part with the fish and flower several times and again coloured the images with brush pens. I cut out one whole seahorse and parts of the second one which I shaped and glued over the whole image with 3D glue.

I cut out the fish and flowers and decorated the base section to match the frame. I created some seaweed with the stencil, drawing round the aperture on green overflow paper and cutting them out.

I assembled all the elements to create my artwork as shown to check placement first before gluing everything down. I added more flowers to the final design for balance as you'll see in the main photo.

If you missed the shows you can watch online on rewind.

Have a great and hopefully crafty weekend and see you next week.
