Spirit by Lynne Moncrieff

Hello

That's Crafty's A4 Circles Stencil continues to inspire me.  They might be such a simple design but I find myself continually drawn to this particular stencil and have opened my eyes as previously I am not sure I would have thought about using circles for nature inspired projects and yet now, it seems such an obvious shape to work with.

There is nothing as wonderful as our minds being opened to new possibilities!

Supplies

That's Crafty! Clear Stamp Set The Language of Trees Set 1
That's Crafty! A4 Circles Stencil TC40002
That's Crafty! Pearl Inks: Bronze, Tree Bark
That's Crafty! Surfaces MDF Panel Pack of 3 6" x 6"
That's Crafty! Walnut Ink Crystals
Archival Ink Jet Black Ink Pad
Extras: sewing machine, cotton rag paper,  watercolour paper, canvas fabric scrap, black watersoluble pencil, dried element.

Instructions

Onto the cotton rag paper, Pearl Inks and walnut ink were applied and at the same time, onto watercolour paper. I happened to see a strip of canvas fabric so decided to also apply the Pearl Inks and walnut ink to this strip.

The canvas strip was machine stitched to the cotton rag paper before adhering to the MDF panel.

Onto the watercolour paper, the largest circle was stencilled with a black watersoluble pencil and three smaller circles also cut out.

After adhering the large circle, the three circles were also adhered.

From one of the Language of Trees stamp sets, I selected Spirit of the woodland, to stamp onto scraps of painted watercolour paper, adhering to the large circle.

When I was machine stitching onto the background panel, I also stitched a scrap of eco dyed paper, layering with another, this time, smaller piece of the painted canvas, trapping a dried element, with a wee piece of painted cardstock curved to lay over the dried element.

Throughout, the made marks with the black watersoluble pencil, either dipping the tip of the pencil into water before making marks or using a dampened soft brush.
