Grungy Rusty Cogs! by Amanda Pink

Hi Everyone

Welcome to my weekly DT post.
Today I am sharing a piece of 'Art on the Round" that features paper from 13Arts and a grungy rusty focal feature that I designed and created using That's Crafty's greyboard cogs and gears!

That's Crafty! sell a range of fabulous substrates in various shapes and sizes and being a big fan of circles the 'rounds' are one of my faves. They are available in greyboard, white/greyboard, and MDF and are sold in multipacks containing a selection of 3 different sized rounds in each pack. You can find them in the shop here, here and here

I worked on a 6inch greyboard round for this particular project which I mounted onto a ply wood circle (own stash) treated with painted Grit Paste.
For the background I selected one of the papers from 13Arts paper pad 'Grungy Walls'. There's a great mix of designs in this pad and despite the name of the pad not all of the paper designs are overly grungy! There's delicate flowers to be found on some of the walls!

Aftering cutting and adhering the paper to the 'round' I sanded back any 'overhang' and then distressed the circumference with Ground Espresso Distress ink.
As the paper already had some detail I added just a touch more using one of the stamps from PaperArtsy Eclectica ESA13 stamp set designed by Seth Apter.

Then it was time to create the focal feature.
For this I used a section of cogs, gears and bars from That's Crafty's greyboard 'bits and pieces' sheets: Small Cogs and Large Cogs.
The chosen 'bits and pieces' were treated to some Grit Paste and coloured with DecoArt Media Fluids to give them a 'rusty' appearance
I then assembled them in a design I was happy with and adhered the 'rusty' feature to the 'grungy wall' background.

Heres a few close ups:

Some ideology brads helped fix the 'bars' in place.....

.... and an old rusty hex nut and washer from my box of 'rusty findings' made an ideal finishing touch.

Products I used:

Tim Holtz ideology metal fasteners
Nail File
Stencil brush
Plywood circle
Rusty hex nut n washer

Hope you've enjoyed some 'grungy rusty' creativity today.
Thanks for stopping by.
Have a great creative week
Take Care
