Vintage Libary Notelet Box by Gill Humphrey

For my make this week I chose to work with the Notelet Box designed by Jo Channon. I decided that I would decorate the lid of the box BEFORE constructing the box as its easier to slip the completed lid into place whilst constructing the base than trying to decorate it insitu.

I primed the lid piece with White Primer Paste and left it to dry before adhering a piece of the Book Pages Rice Paper to the outside surface using Rice Paper Glue. Once this was dry I added brown ink around the edges and then turned my attention to the opposite side of the lid.

I applied Modeling Paste through the Letters Stencil and then once it was dry painted the surface with Burgundy paint which can be found in the Create Happiness 2 Set. Once the paint was dry the details were highlighted with a mixture of Gold and Brass metallic waxes (Copper and Honey Gold can also be used).

Next I made the box up before painting the outside with Blue Navy paint and the inside with Burgundy. Inside I lined the box with papers taken from the Backgrounds pad

Outside I applied the same colours of waxes used for the inside lid through the letters stencil to give a little interest to the sides. On the sides of the box I added pieces cast from the Plates Mould priming these with black gesso before painting the front and back pieces with Shadow paint and the side pieces with Burgundy paint and then highlighting the details with more of the metallic waxes.

For the top of the box I then added some imagery taken from the Collectables Pad edged with ground espresso ink before adding pieces cast from the Books Mould that had been painted in the same way as the other cast pieces.
