Stairway To by Helen Chilton

I loved making this! I've used three parts of the latest Stamperia Vintage Library Collection:

and combined them with a large MDF Chunky

It was the staircase that inspired me! Who can resist a staircase going - where?

I pieced together a background.

Then I started to build my scene. The main aim was to create depth and to do this I used the 'waste' MDF glueing pieces together to make different heights.

The window frame is brought forward so I can sit my owl on the ledge. The stairway comes forward to meet the frame but lies flat against the ground at the bottom.

All the extra bits have different depths using the MDF offcuts.

I've also cut a strip to make a handy shelf at the bottom.

Here's the owl on the ledge.

The small items on the stairs were chosen to fit the scale of the steps. Note the row of books under the chair. The ink bottle is furthest forward and the pen rests on the shelf.

I had a great time making this - you can really make it your own by choosing the ephemera you particularly like. I decided not to paint the MDF as I liked the colour. Also note I obviously haven't put the front on - these Chunkies are very versatile.

I hope you've enjoyed this as much as me!
