Hello!

For the next few posts I'm returning to my steampunk roots as this style has always been a favourite of mine and it's a while since I last visited it.

My chosen substrate this week is a 6 x 6ins MDF Chunkie and I glued it together first as I wanted to cover the front with paper.

 I chose a paper designed by Amanda Southern in a shade of teal and glued a piece on.

I then took the Cog Clock Mask to add the detail in the top left corner with Black Texture Paste.

I next added some more steampunk detail with the cogs background Dinky stencil and Sand Texture Paste.

I then coloured the cogs with a variety of Multi Surface Paints to end up a rusty crusty look. I used Orange, Chestnut Brown, Grey and Midnight Blue. I also used the lid of the orange to create some rough circles around the clock section.

I created my main embellishment by stamping one of my favourite background images (who doesn't like a bit of Einstein!) on a scrap of paper in oranges, teals and yellows with red ink.

I stamped one of Melina's gorgeous grunge butterflies on the paper with black ink and heat embossed the image with clear embossing powder.

I painted a small cog in shades of blue and green to add in the centre of the butterfly's body and added this to the background, raising it on a scrap piece of MDF.

I finished off with text created with the alphabet in the Numbers and Scripts stamp set, stamped on scraps of the paper with black ink several times. I cut out the relevant letters and edged them with black ink before gluing in place.
