Contented Spirit by Amanda Pink

Hello Everyone

Welcome to my weekly DT post of creativity.
Today I'm sharing a layered and textured mixed media Art Board that features some of the fabulous butterflies on one of That's Crafty's recently released stamp sets 'Arty Wings' along with another newly released stamp from Aall and Create "Splattered Numbers' designed by Tracy Evans . Theres also distress oxides, paints and texture pastes included!

The creativity began with the background panel. Working with Distress Oxides I added subtle 'hints' of colour to a panel of white card using Tim Holtz 'Wrinkle Free Distress' technique. I then stamped the coloured background numerous times with Aall and Creates 'Splattered Numbers' stamp designed by Tracy Evans.

The background was adhered to a panel of cardboard packaging, the sides painted with acrylic paint. It was then mounted onto a heavyboard panel that was textured with Grit Paste painted with 'French Roast' PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Acrylic Paint.

I continued the painted Grit Paste texture through to some That's Crafty! Greyboard Small Cog Bits and Pieces. I painted these with some DecoArt Media fluid paints and then very lightly dry brushed them with Green Patina PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Acrylic Paint. The 'bars' and 'corners' were used as accents on the background panel adhered in place with brads.

The two cogs were used as one of the layers of the stacked central feature, the other 2 layers being some cardboard packaging die cut stitched circles, topped with a crackled That's Crafty! ATCoin. I added a few words to the cracked Atcoin and a brad to the top of the cog. The focal feature is of course the fabulous butterfly/butterflies from That's Crafty's stamp set.

There are 6 butterflies on the stamp set, 2 of each size (S,M,L ). There are also 2 differing wing designs on each of the sizes. As the shape of the butterfly is the same for all the sizes they can easily be adhered together at the thorax to create a multilayered butterfly. You could for example layer a couple of the large butterflies together or you could layer one of each of the 3 sizes together as I chose to do.
The 3 butterflies that make up my butterfly were coloured in the same way as the background panel.
Their wings were manipulated to give the butterfly a sense of movement...

...and add a touch more dimension to the finished piece.
