Instructions

I tend to have papers prepared as I like to work in batches. The papers used for this collage were either watercolour paper or utilizing underpaper (which happened to be freezer paper).

For the watercolour paper, clear Gesso was first applied and once dry, Pearl Inks were applied, at the same time misting the paper with water, to allow the inks to pool. Walnut Ink Crystals, decanted into a mister bottle, sprayed onto the paper. The paper was allowed to air dry.

Depending on the amount of water applied to the paper, there will be quite a difference to the end result, this creates a more diffused effect.

After a quick application of Gesso to the MDF Round, the circle was covered with prepared watercolour paper panel, distressing the edges.

For all the other circles, the fabulous A4 Circle Stencil was used, cutting circles from more prepared watercolour paper and also the under-paper, layering onto the Round along with torn strips of underpaper.

For the central circles, scraps of muslin were first adhered before adding a feather, wrapping cotton covered copper wire. A tiny cluster of 13arts Gravel was added to bring more texture to the inner circle.

Hope, a word stamp from the ATCoins Set 11, inked with black ink, stamped onto scrap paper.

With Distress Crayons, I added depth to some of the circles.

Inking up only tiny areas of the Mini stamp, added stamped texture to the paper.

Please stay safe !

  1. Such a beautiful piece of artwork Lynne. I love circles and the way you layered them up here is so gorgeous. Love the simplicity of embellishing too.

  2. Thank you Fliss, yes I didn't want too many embellishments with this, trying to allowing for a sense of openess.
    I am slightly obsessed with That's Crafty's A4 Circles stencil :) xx
