Bee! by Amanda Pink

Hi Everyone

Welcome to my Thursday weekly DT post!

Following on from last week's post where I shared a project I created using Seth Apter/Aladine Izink 'Ice' (see here) I am continuing my 'Ice 'creativity today sharing a card I have created using 'Ice' through a stencil.
In contrast to last weeks project which was rich in textured layers my card today is rich in glowing colour and the 'Ice' has a much smoother finish.

I worked on heavy cardstock using the same colours of 'Ice' as I did last week (Ice Coffee, Whisky Frost, Melted Butter)
The stencil I chose to create with is one of That's Crafty's 7x7 stencils (Honeycomb Circles). This is such a great design as it is so versatile with its mix of circles and honeycomb. You could use it in full (as I have here), you could stencil the full design and then cut it down to create something like a tag or a smaller card or you could just use sections of the stencil to add detail to your projects.

I applied the 3 colours of 'Ice' (one at a time) through the stencil using a palette knife. The colours blend together very smoothly and seemlessly to create a lovely gradual change in colour tone.
After removing the stencil I heat set the 'Ice' using a heat gun. As I mentioned last week; heat makes the 'Ice' bubble and craze which you cannot only see but hear too!

I added a touch of 'broken' text stamping in some of the larger circles and outlined the open circles and hexagons of the design with a black pen.

The broken text stamping twas carried through to a That's Crafty! ATcoin which was painted with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Paint.( Cloud 9). It served as the mount for the bumble bee which is from one of PaperArtsy's stamp sets designed by Tracy Scott. (ETS27)

He was stamped on card, painted with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Acrylic Paint (Tangerine Twist, Mustard pickle, Zesty Zing) fussy cut and adhered in place using That's Crafty! Multi Purpose Adhesive. I also gave him a glossy coat thanks to some Glossy Accents.

  2. Absolutely stunning honeycomb - the crackled, bubbled surface is tantalisingly honey-like, and I just love the ombre blending of the colours you've achieved. Magical - and definitely inspiring. And the bee is pretty fabulous too!
