Flaming Skulls by Amanda Southern

Hi Everyone
I continue in my Spook'tober makes with another of my Halloween samples for the recent That's Crafty! shows on Hochanda where That's Crafty! introduced their own brand ranges of Halloween themed stamps, stencils and MDF shapes.

Here's What I Did:

I started with the Halloween MDF Kit which includes a selection of MDF Uprights and an A4 sheet of MDF Halloween themed pieces. I chose to use the coffin shaped MDF Upright from the kit and painted it all with That's Crafty! Black Multi Surface Paint. Once the paint was dry I stencilled through the Flaming Skulls stencil using That's Crafty! Texture Paste and then left it to dry.

Once the paste was dry I then hand painted each set of flames around the skulls using That's Crafty! Multi Surface Paints blending the paint colours together as I went to reproduce the look of flames. Placing the stencil back in place I painted in the eyes and noses of the skulls. To add some shading to the skull heads I blended some grey coloured pencil onto the skulls.

Onto a piece of thick white card I drew around the inside of the flame stencil to just reproduce the flames and painted then as I did before and then cut them out leaving a tab at the bottom to allow me to glue them onto the base of the MDF Upright.

I stamped the crowned skull also onto thick card, coloured it with coloured pencils and cut it out.  I wanted the skull to be in front of the background so suspended it on a wooden skewer that I had painted black to match.

To finish the upright off I used the raven from the A4 MDF sheet and painted that black and added to the top of the upright, to hold it securely in place it is help on with a piece of acetate that is glued onto the back of the bird and goes behind the upright.

Here's What I Used:
That's Crafty! 6" x 6" Stencil - Flaming Skulls
That's Crafty! Multi Surface Paints - Black, Christmas Red, Orange and yellow
That's Crafty! Stamp Set - Happy Hauntings
Acetate
Wooden Skewer
Have a fabulous week and I'll see you all next Tuesday
Love
