Heart and Soul ... by Amanda Pink

Hi Everyone

Welcome to my Thursday weekly post.
This week I have been playing with paints again along with some texture paste, some 13Arts Magic Powder and some Baked Textures embossing powders to create a 'Grungy Mixed Media tag'.

The tag itself is a #8 That's Crafty! Greyboard/Whiteboard tag. I applied some torn pieces of collage paper and some background stamping before adding colour using PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paints applied with a brayer.

Next came the textured stenciling. For this I mixed up my own coloured texture paste - 13Arts Magic Powder + Midnight Fresco Finish acrylic paint+ a small amount of That's Crafty! Texture Paste.

13Arts Magic Powder is a new product to me so I was keen to try it out. It is an organic ingredient that will turn any medium into a nice smooth texture paste. All you have to do is mix some into your medium of choice until there are no visible white particles (the more you add the thicker the consistency) and use as you choose, either directly onto your substrate or as I did through a stencil.
Here's what my mix looked like when mixed.

Unfortunately I failed to capture a shot directly after application but I was impressed with the result. Its available from the shop and the price is unbelievably affordable!
I heat embossed the textured stenciling, gently caught the top with white gold metallic wax and  added a little more background stamping.

The heart is a That's Crafty! MDF heart #3 triple embossed (at least) with Seth Apter's Baked Textures embossing powder. I used Deep Sea which when melted creates a liquid looking blend of blues and greens with a glossy finish.
I stamped into the final embossed layer and highlighted the stamping with White Gold metallic wax. Not especially happy with the result I reheated the stamped embossing back to a smooth finish and in doing so the metallic wax created the specks of white gold you can see within the embossing.
The heart is embellished with some cogs and eyelets and sits on top of a Tim Holtz metal ruler.

.
I finished the hole of the tag with an eyelet, threaded ribbon through and added a few word stickers.... Heart

& Soul
