Scandi Christmas by Samantha Read
11:00Hello, hope this finds you warm and well. Now I know that Christmas is the same date every year yet somehow it always seems to be a long way off then before you know it it's next month! So with this in mind, combining Christmas with my love of postcards, I made this simple and effective with a hint of Scandinavian design postcard, which is protected with a couple of coats of gloss medium so it could go through the postal system. I took dozens of photos for this but I couldn't catch the effect the gloss medium had, I applied it once vertically and when dry another coat horizontally and it created a beautiful linen texture effect.
What I did
I began with a postcard surface, this one has rounded corners. I painted a couple of coats of red paint and then using a stencil applied embossing ink and white embossing powder to create the snowy swirls for the ground, I used the same method for the snow flakes. The tree and bird were stamped using embossing ink and white embossing powder. The small snowflakes were simply and embossing pen and white embossing powder. I really like how the stencil and stamps combine, it's hard to tell which was which!

A very striking piece of artwork Sam. The white embossing looks fabulous on the red background and the glossy effect is bound to look wonderful.
