Textured Artist Trading Coins by Fliss Goodwin

Hello! I hope you caught the Hochanda shows yesterday as there were lots of gorgeous new goodies perfect for the newest trend, artist trading coins. If you missed them, why not take a look on rewind as Jo did some amazing demos and the Design Team have made some stunning samples.
I'm sharing some of mine here today and just loved all the texture that I was able to add to them. Read on to find out how they came about.
What I Did:
All of these were actually made in a similar way, just different stencils, stamps and colours used so I'll just give the details for the actual techniques rather than the products used which I'll list below each of the individual close up photos.
I created the backgrounds by scraping texture sand paste roughly on and then allowed it to dry thoroughly. I then used the new and fabulous round dinky stencils to apply a pattern with texture paste. As the surface is not completely flat, you'll find the paste runs under the stencil a little but this actually adds to the textured effect.
I then used ink sprays or paint to colour the surface, using flat matte sprays on the green and yellow backgrounds and multi surface paint on the lilac one. The results were slightly brighter than I wanted and I used my new favourite antiquing trick which is to spritz on aubergine lustre spray which because it has a gold tinge in the mica, gives a really amazing look. It toned down the colours really well, especially the yellow which was very bright before treatment.
As I wanted to add embellishments to these, I chose to use only part of Melina's new and gorgeous floral mandalas. I stamped these onto ink spray overflow sheets, adding extra colour where necessary with Zig Clean Color markers. I stamped the flowers several times on different colour backgrounds so that I could cut out individual elements to layer them up. It was good to do this as I didn't need whole flowers and was able to use scraps.
I glued the sections together and decided on placement with my chosen embellishments. I then glued the flower to the background and when it was dry and firmly in place, trimmed off the excess. I added glitter glue in some areas to give some added bling.
I coloured some embellishments to tone in with the remainder of the artwork and glued these on. I stamped my chosen text (from Lynne's Affirmations) on more ink spray overflow, cut the individual words out and glued them in place to finish.
