O' Christmas Tree by Donna Gray
11:00
Hi
everyone,
Donna
here today with a Christmas wall hanging for you.
What I Did:
I
used a That’s Crafty! white/greyboard panel as my base for the hanging.
For
the background I used the ‘Vaseline resist technique’ which is basically
applying thin smears of Vaseline to resist the paint that goes on top. This
then exposes the paint colour underneath and gives you a ‘peeled paint’ effect,
which is fab.
I
used the wonderful That’s Crafty! Multi Surface Paints which really do what
they say on the pot, for the panel and embellishments.
Once
the background was dry, I put it to one side to then concentrate on painting
the embellishments, which are a mixture of mainly greyboard with some MDF ones
too. The Multi Surface Paints are ideal for this, as you only need one coat to
cover everything.
Make
sure they’re dry then do a little doodling with Posca and Pigma pens.
For
the Christmas tree, I splattered some white Posca pen on to replicate snow and
added a touch of puff paint to the top of the tree to suggest a snowy coating.
When
I was satisfied that I’d finished decorating the embellishments I added little
pieces of twine to some of them and adhered them to the tree and panel with
foam pads to add even more dimension.
Final
touch was to add a couple of Tim Holtz sentiments to the panel.
The
panel comes with holes already made (in the Hochanda ODS bundle) so I just
threaded some Bakers twine through it ready for hanging…..out of the reach of
nosey cats of course!!!
Supplies Used:
Hope
you like it

Fresh and fun, Donna - great use of the greyboard bits and pieces to create your fab Christmas tree. Still loving that dotty bauble and the dotty gift too, and the touch of white spatter just brings it all to life.
