The Dawn Awakens - A Journal by Lynne Moncrieff
11:00
Friday
and Saturday saw That’s Crafty! have a ODS at HOCHANDA. This also meant the team busily creating
samples in anticipation of the shows and this was one of my samples.
Receiving
white/greyboard panels (amongst a host of goodies) inspired me to make a
journal with a nature theme, I could not resist inking up the beautiful leaf
stamp from the new Textures Collection Set 3.
For
this journal, I combined That’s Crafty! products with found papers which had
been stained/weathered.
Visit
the What’s New? or As Seen on HOCHANDA to view recent additions to the That’s
Crafty! product range.
Supplies
That’s Crafty! Multi Surface Paints: Antique Gold, Copper, Bronze
Re-cycled
Kitchen Paper Towel (stained as a result of items which had been stained with
coffee, rusting placed upon the paper towel – too precious to throw in the
bin!)
Re-cycled
corrugated paper, Rice paper (weathered and stained from outdoors)
Cartridge
Paper
Stained Calico (coffee)
Instructions
Apply stained kitchen paper towel to both sides of
two rectangle panels. Leave to dry thoroughly,
preferably overnight before continuing by stamping script randomly, only onto
front and rear covers, not the insides.
Create page inserts from cartridge paper, stamping
smaller leaf onto lower corner of each upper facing page. Begin to bind the journal, creating two holes
in front and rear covers. I worked with Crop-a-Dile also using that to insert
eyelets. Create co-ordinating holes in
page inserts. Bind pages and covers
together with calico stained in coffee.
Onto stained papers (they were stained from being
outside, part of some “bundles” I form and leave exposed in the garden), stamp
smaller leaf four times, this is the leaf from the Affirmations set. Onto a piece of cardboard paper, the larger
leaf was stamped and this leaf was also stamped onto a panel of weathered and
stained rice paper. This paper was so
rich in texture as it was multiple layers of rice paper, so the result not a
perfect impression of the leaf. Onto torn pieces of cardboard paper, the
beautiful script was stamped.
The Affirmation, stamped onto a piece of weathered
paper, forms a tag to be attached to the binding of the journal.
Until next time
Lynne

That's a beautiful journal, Lynne - glorious use of weathered texture as always, and those leaves make for a wonderful motif throughout.
