Fairy Dancer by Fliss Goodwin

Hi
there, I have a mixed media art panel to share this week, as I couldn’t resist
creating something with the sweet little dancer included in the Tim Holtz Paper
Dolls pack. She’s so adorable that I had to find her a pretty setting and this
art panel is the result.
Ingredients:
That’s Crafty! Clear Stamp Set – Lynne’s Affirmations Sets 1 and 5
That’s Crafty! Bits and Pieces Greyboard Sheets – Small Butterflies & Dragonflies,
Small Wild Flowers
That’s Crafty! Multi Surface Paints – White, Teal, Christmas Red, Yellow, Metallic
Pearl, Purple, Green, Metallic Ice Blue
That’s Crafty! Shimmer Paints – Dark Blue, Purple
Mixed
Media Paper
Recipe:
First
colour the panel by adding small dots of yellow, red, metallic pearl and larger
dots of white. Run the brayer over to spread the paints all over the panel and
blot if necessary with a paper towel.
Now
add the stencil over the top and add a pattern with some teal mixed with white
to soften the colour. Repeat on the area not previously covered by the stencil
to complete the patterned surface.
Paint
a couple of the wildflowers by dotting on the paints – I used purple and teal
with the 2 shades of shimmer paints over the top on the flower heads. After
painting the stalks and leaves green, I added a little detail with a dark green
pencil.
I
painted some butterflies using the Purple and Teal paints, adding a coat of the
corresponding Shimmer Paint over the top (Purple and Multi Surface Metallic Ice Blue). When dry, I added some pencil detail.
I glued all of the elements on the panel with silicone glue, which I find really good for adding dimension.
Have
a great weekend and see you next week.

Oh what a lovely piece Fliss, such a happy image with a real spring in her step as she flies through the air. I love her glittery wings. She is taking us to much warmer skies than what we have here today...

She is really having the day of her life, flying over this beautiful garden, with the wonderfully painted bluebells ,and happy butterflies. A beautiful background for her Fliss. I find it difficult to use paints over stencils, often making a mess of it- but you are doing great !!!
