New Stamp Play by Fliss Goodwin

Hello!

I hope you caught the amazing One Day Special That's Crafty! had on Hochanda this week and I'm really pleased to be able to share one of my sample pages in the A5 journal with you today.

I was so lucky to receive one of Lynne's absolutely gorgeous new stamp sets to play with an in fact, my entire A5 journal features them throughout as I've totally fallen in love with them.

Step by Step

The pages were easier to make than you might think as I simply took 3 shades of Multi Surface Paints - Chestnut Brown, Apricot and Lavender - diluted them a little with water and then scraped the colours across both panels with an old store card. As you can see, there is brown at the bottom, the lightest apricot shade in the middle and lavender at the top.

Once the paint was dry, I misted Walnut Flat Matte spray over the lower half and Lilac Flat Matte spray at the top. When it was completely dry, I sponged a little more diluted Apricot paint at the top and bottom of the middle panel of colour which is what gives the slightly misty look to the areas.

I prepared the round panel first, taking one of the trees from the set, not inking up the entire trunk and used brown ink, stamping and then using second and third generation stamping, bending the branches to the left and right as you'll see in the photo (slightly dodgy pic as I had issues with the light - very bright sunlight!)

On the rectangular panel, I stamped the tree in the same way, adding a second generation stamped image a bit higher up to peep out behind my added paper layer.

I took a scrap of paper from my bits box and this particular one is a stencil clean up piece which has Raspberry and Redwood Flat Matte sprays on and you might just spot part of a word (reversed of course) on there. I stamped the other tree from the set on the paper with the same brown ink, then distressed the edges with an emery board.

I stamped the bend and sway text together with a favourite affirmation of Lynne's on further scraps of toning papers from my bits box and stamped a butterfly on a further scrap to add as well.
