More Than I Can Bear by Amanda Southern

Hi Everyone
This weeks make had to be a heart with Valentines day only a few days away, so with a That's Crafty! MDF heart and the sewing machine out I set off with this weeks make.

This is What I Did:

I started with a piece of heavy card stock, or you could use water colour card, and tapped Distress inks onto my craft mat and lightly sprayed with water and then randomly picked up the ink with the paper building up the colours onto the card. Once the card was dried I stamped a variety of the hexagon stamps from the AALL & Create hexagon set using Vintage Photo Archival ink and cut them out. Not all the hexagon stamps were the same size so I used one as template and cut the others to the same size so it would allow me to piece them all together. I glued them altogether onto a piece of copier paper before stitching around each hexagon. To get the stitching around the edge of the heart I drew around the heart on top of the background piece and then used that as a guide to stitch around before sticking all this to the MDF heart and trimming and sanding the edge. I then inked around the edge to finish the edges off.

Next was to stamp the bear and I did this onto a piece of calico that I ironed before stamping on. I stamped again using the Archival ink pad. I coloured the bear with acrylic paint watered down slightly and added some shading using Zig markers and a water brush. I added some pieces of blue fabrics by machine stitching them on leaving some long threads to add a little colour and texture. I cut around the stamped bear leaving quite an edge to allow me to fray the edges.

I stamped out the sentiment that comes with the bear on to white card and added to the heart along with a few old buttons I threaded with some twine. I piece of course string to hang it with finished it off.

Here's What I Used:

Distress Ink Pads - Vintage Photo & Broken China
Distress Archival Ink Pad currently out of stock but this Stazon Ink Pad a great alternative for fabric
Acrylic Paints, I used a PaperArtsy Paint but most would work loads to choose HERE
Craft Knife
Calico
Sewing Machine
Fabric Scraps
Vintage Buttons

Have a wonderful Valentines Day and I will see you next week
Love

  2. Now that's my kind of Valentine - blue and brown, scrumptious stamping, an adorable bear with a cuter-than-cute raggedy scarf and matching patch in his ear, and a bit of wordplay. What's not to love?! I certainly do!
